About this event
Sign up for a FREE Car Check by Jefferson Occupational Therapy students, who will
ensure that your car is set up properly to “fit” you best so that you can drive more safely
and comfortably.
CarFit is a national program created by AARP, AAA, and the American Occupational
Therapy Association to help older adult drivers find their safest and most comfortable fit
in their vehicles.
During the 20-30 minute Car Check, trained Jefferson OT student volunteers will work
with participants to adjust mirrors, seat positioning, steering wheel distance, and more –
all with the goal of improving safety and mobility. They may recommend devices to help
getting in and out of the car, grab seat belts, etc.
After the Car Check, Courtney Gohean, Occupational Therapy faculty member, will sign
off on all recommendations and answer any further questions.
The results of the CarFit will not be shared with Penn DOT or anyone else and will have
no effect on your driver’s license.
In case of heavy rain, CarFit will be canceled.
7 Car Checks will be scheduled for VOR members - 3:15, 3:30, 3:35, 4:00, 4:15.
